Introduction
Why I chose New Zealand
New Zealand is home to some of the most diverse landscapes. Ever since I was little, I have been drooling over the incredible images and fantastic photography that has been able to spring from its beauty. Moreover, a couple summers ago I worked at a ranch camp in Wyoming. There, my closest friend was from New Zealand. Hearing her stories from her farm on Lake Taupo and the sheep she would nurse continued to allure me. Further, I have always studied environmental science in a landlocked location. Now, I will be able to immerse myself in marine biology with my initial steps being researching homing behaviors of snails in intertidal zones.

Why the University of Otago?
As an environmental science major, I knew I had to be on the south island with easy access to the national parks there. Moreover, I have always enjoyed an education that challenges me. With the University of Otago being ranked in the top 1% of universities in the world, I knew it was a perfect fit.
Generation Study Abroad Excellence and Travel Awards Scholarship
This whole adventure could not have lived up to its full potential without the help of the Generation Study Abroad Excellence and Travel Awards Scholarship. Because of this generous donation, I was able to worry less about financial strains, take more trips to truly explore the country, and enrich my cultural experiences.
Why I Would Be a Great Kiwi Ambassador
As an outdoor enthusiast, an extroverted chatty Kathy, and a foodie, I cover a wide range of interests of people. I would be able to blog not only about the fantastic and wild backpacks I will be taking, but also about the unique night life and scrumptious cuisine from the local restaurants. I adore life’s excitement and chaos and always have a story to tell to my family and friends at the end of a long day. Lastly, I am very passionate about photography and not only would be able to describe the adventures, but also capture them so readers can have visuals to help bring the entries to life.
